2023 Year In Review by Milwaukee Wedding Photographer Patrick Betcher
January 4, 2024I will always consider 2023 to be the year I put a firm grasp on my identity as a wedding photographer. Photographing almost 30 weddings all over the Milwaukee area (and beyond) proved to be one of the most rewarding endeavors of my professional life. I met all kinds of great couples, experimented with new techniques, attended workshops, worked with more fantastic local vendors, and learned more than ever about what it takes to deliver to a great experience to the couples who hire me. The goal is always to keep things laid back and have a good time, and I think the photos from 2023 show it.
To the couples I work with: I realize that in a sea of wedding vendor options it can be difficult to choose who will be documenting the precious moments of your wedding day. For that, I cannot thank you enough for taking the leap of faith and asking me to be the one to do it. I appreciate you and wouldn’t be able to pursue this dream without you. Sincerely, thank you.
The photos I have chosen to post for 2023 run the gamut of what I’ve seen this year. Honing this craft is always a work in progress full of twists, turns, and little (sometimes huge) bursts of inspiration along the way. There are so many moments put to camera that didn’t make this post that I am also insanely proud of. Ultimately, from the thousands upon thousands of images taken this year I chose a mix of some of my favorite from each wedding and engagement shoot. This collection leans heavily into the photos that allowed me some creative space, with some of my favorite candid moments sprinkled in. I also find that if an inquiring couple appreciates photos like the ones below, it makes for a great fit and I end up working for the best possible clients.
